ECO Packing List: Day Trip

Here are some things you may need for your trip to Lower Prospect. The weather in Nova Scotia can be hard to predict, so give us a call just before your trip, and bring some extra clothes!

Things to bring for a day on the water:

• hat
• sunglasses
• Sun screen
• Bathing suit
• Sport sandals, sneakers or diving booties for paddling
• Polypropylene, capilene, wool, or silk long underwear top*
• Quick-dry jacket/pants (we have paddling jackets for rent or purchase)
• Extra-set of dry clothing**

Other things you might want:

• A camera
• Binoculars

*In general, cotton clothing is not ideal for the maritime climate- it makes you cold when you it’s wet. So it’s good to rely more on synthetic materials or wool.

**We supply dry bags on each trip so you can bring along sweater to wear during your lunch or snack.

ECO Packing List: Overnight

Things for the sunny days on the water:

• hat
• sunglasses
• Sun screen
• Bathing suit
• Sport sandals, sneakers or diving booties for paddling
• Quick-dry jacket/pants (we have paddling jackets for rent or purchase)
• Extra-set of dry clothing

Things for the chilly nights on the island:

• One set of long underwear* (capaline, polypropylene, silk, or wool)
• A full set of pile (fuzzy) clothing, including tops and bottoms.
• Wool/fuzzy hat
• 1 set of wool or synthetic socks/day plus one extra set
• 1 wool or pile sweater
• Rain jacket
• 2 t-shirts
• sleeping bag (let us know if you need to rent one)

Other things you might want:

• A camera
• Binoculars
• Book/field journal
• Personal toiletries (please choose biodegradable products)
• A set of “city clothes” to change into at the end of your trip.
